Apple Intelligence is missing this one feature in iOS 18.2 — what you need to know

Apple’s Image Playground is one of the most talked-about features coming to iOS 18.2 in December. But if you’ve been looking forward to the “sketch” style Apple announced back in June, you might be disappointed. Early beta versions of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 show that Image Playground only offers animation and illustration styles, with no mention of the previously promised sketch option.

While it’s possible that Apple could add the sketch style before the public release, the recent app description update—which previously highlighted the sketch’s “highly detailed and academic” style—now excludes any mention of it. This change, along with reports from MacRumors and Tom’s Guide, suggests the sketch feature may not be part of the initial release.
The iOS 18.2 beta is available to developers and the public, with the general rollout expected in December. Image Playground is expected to have a waiting list upon release, so eager users might want to prepare for that.
Other image generation tools like Genmoji and Image Wand also lack the sketch style for now. Beyond Image Playground, here are some other highlights coming to iOS 18.2:
Visual Intelligence AI Vision for iPhone 16
ChatGPT integration for Siri and expanded Apple Intelligence features
Improved writing tools
New non-AI features, like location sharing in Find My, Battery Intelligence, and better iPhone-Mac connections
Stay tuned as Apple’s big release nears!
